Kroger Settles Civil Suit Stemming from Inaccurate Calorie Ads
Kroger has settled a civil lawsuit for $1.25 million concerning inaccurate calorie counts on Carbmaster Bread products sold at its Ralphs, Food4Less, and Foods Co. stores. The litigation, initiated by district attorneys in Riverside, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties, arose after it was discovered in 2021 that Kroger continued to advertise substantially lower calorie values on packaging and online, even after being aware of the discrepancies. Consumers rely on accurate nutritional information for informed decisions, and the settlement will be split among the three plaintiff counties.
